Experiencing Well-Being
written by John Payne

John Payne

Well-being is an essential element of leading a magical, fulfilling and joy-filled life. Well-being is one of four soul qualities. These qualities are love, creativity, abundance and well-being.

The sense of what well-being is will differ from person to person, for each of you have different visions of health and expect different things from your body and from your mental abilities. For example, well-being for an 80 year old might be the ability to do grocery shopping and take care of personal needs without outside help. For someone of 20, well being might be the ability to run 5 miles with ease, but not all 20 year olds are the same, no two bodies are alike, and no two people think the same or have the same standards.

It is impossible to separate well being from the other soul qualities of love, abundance, and creativity. All aspects of your being are interconnected, some have defined this as mind, body and soul. Your physical well-being is directly influenced by the beliefs and emotions you have concerning yourself and the world you are living in. Beliefs in scarcity, believing that you have to work hard, compete, and fight for everything that you want to have, brings undue stress, that leads to many stress-related illnesses and disease. The word disease itself expresses this, dis - ease, a lack of ease.

Physical well-being means having the feeling that your body is serving you in achieving the things you have desired to create, and that it supports you in the expression of vitality, radiance and joy. Part of physical well-being, is honoring your body and recognizing how it serves you. So many of you see your body as the enemy, the thing that lets you down. However, your body is the most perfect tool that you have. It serves you in ways that are beyond your knowing at this time, and even illness and disease are a service to you and to your Soul.

The Meaning of Physicality

To understand physicality better, it is beneficial to shift the perspective of your existence here in physical form. Many of you assume that you are in a body, you have a Soul, and when you die, your Soul will leave your body, and that is the end of the story. You do not have a Soul, you are a Soul. You are a soul having a physical experience, an experience that you created. When you understand this, you will also understand that it is your greater self, your Soul, who chose and built the body that you have, in order to serve its specific needs in this lifetime.

Your body is the expression of your soul. It is the expression of who you are at this moment. Your body also acts as a messenger, it provides testimony of who you are, what you believe, and where you have been, through many, many lifetimes. Each curve of your body, each line on your face, the shape and form of each eye, ear, nose, organ and limb tells a story about you, what you feel, think and what you have experienced. Your cells and muscles hold a record of your journey. They show you where you are holding pain and grief, where you need to let go, forgive and bless, and they hold within them the memory of humanity as a species, the history of your planet. Your body is a walking, living library, and it is your friend. It should be as dear to you as your soul. It serves you and loves you, as your Soul does, and your body is waiting for you to love it. So many of you despise your body, and see it as just an empty shell that you will discard at the end of this life. With these thoughts, you are overlooking one of the most powerful tools that you have. Your body contains knowledge and memory and is a tool you can use to help you on the path of enlightenment through the practice of sacred sexuality.

It is true that many of you are waking up to the knowledge that you are more than your body, and that you are a Soul that is multi-dimensional, eternal, powerful and divine. However, the purpose of being on planet earth is not to deny your physicality, it is to evolve your physicality. Nothing ever evolved through rejection or loathing. Just as a plant will not grow without light, cannot reach its full potential, flower and produce offspring, so your body cannot evolve without love. Mankind is evolving, and in the generations to come, your bodies will be able to contain more light, and that ability will come with your increasing ability to love, and that means also loving your body.

Your body is designed to be your friend. Intuitive flashes have direct influence on your body. Your body reacts to joy, danger, sadness, positive and negative energies. Your body is an ally, a friend, a friend that wishes to serve you. The only thing it asks in return is your love. It so much wants to be loved and respected by you, and yet is continues to serve you selflessly, irrespective of the way you treat it or think about it. It is the ever faithful servant that just keeps on trying, no matter how hard the circumstances, or how great the odds are stacked up against it. Take a moment to acknowledge how your body has been serving you, and thank it.

Body Image

The way in which you view and judge your body has a direct effect on its functioning. Just like with every aspect of your existence, whatever you focus on will increase. If you focus on what your body is not, and the things you have decided are wrong with it, your body will begin to obey these thoughts and feelings, and create more. Your body is the faithful and true servant, it follows your every wish and command, and responds to every thought passing through your mind. Each thought that you have produces an electrical stimulus or charge, and this charge moves throughout your entire body, touching each and every cell. What is true for one cell, eventually becomes true for all cells, because they work collectively, as one unit.

Human societies have dictated down through the ages what a body should look like and what is considered to be beauty. The concept of beauty, like fashion, evolves and changes, as a society evolves and changes. The ideas that you have today about the optimal size and shape of the human body are not universally true in all of human society, are not consistent throughout the history of your species. Knowing this, brings into perspective that disliking your body because it is not a particular shape or color is the same as hating yourself because you don?t have a pair of those trousers or sport shoes that everyone else is wearing. How do you feel about your body? How do you view it? Is it beautiful, or is it something you have learned to be ashamed of? Do you constantly compare your body to the bodies of others? Do you curse your body for having let you down, or use your body as the reason why you cannot be, do or have something that you wish to be, do, or have? What did you learn about your body as a child? Was the body and its functions considered shameful, dirty, unclean, something that had to be hidden, covered over, and not talked about. How do you view illness? Is illness something that just simply happens to you, when your body lets you down, fails, and creates circumstance that are beyond your control?. Many of the religious beliefs in your society have taught you to negate the body, or to view it as a failing, a weakness, a vessel that separates you from God. Some of these teachings tell you that it is your spiritual obligation to move beyond the temptations of the flesh. However, I would say to you that the original teaching was meant to convey the message of evolving your world of matter into a world containing more spirit, a merging of matter and spirit. It was never intended that you view your body as a prison which was to be distrusted, despised, hated or rejected. These beliefs are so deeply rooted, that they have produced even more dis-ease and lack of well-being. Not only in terms of illness itself, but also in terms of the way in which you view and treat your body. Many see the environment and the body as being full of dangers. Your televisions tell you how you have to protect yourself from germs, from the dangers of illness that lurk around each corner. The body is being turned into enemy number one. First of all you need to put it on a diet, train it, run it, make it lift weights, all so that you can have the feeling of outer beauty. Then you turn against the same body that you wish to be an object of beauty by distrusting every natural movement it makes, every bodily fluid that flows, and by seeing it as the greatest potential enemy you have. You are sending conflicting messages to your body. This conflict is putting undue stress on your body, and will not assist you in producing true radiant health. On the one hand you demand your image of beauty, and on the other hand you hide your body in shame, and see it as the enemy, a weakness, as unclean, an object that can let you down at any moment.

Imagine that your body was a small child, full of love and eager to please. Imagine that you had a great desire for this child to be beautiful, always well presented, clean, and wonderfully dressed. Imagine that this child is with you twenty four hours a day, and goes with you everywhere you go. It felt your every mood, observed you covering your nakedness in shame, and felt your anger when it did not conform to your every and exact wish. Soon this child would not be the radiant loving being that it was. It would have learned that there were things to be ashamed of, and that the love you were willing to offer it was conditional. After a while, it would not make the effort to put on beautiful clean clothes, or try to look its best, after all, what's the point, you will only criticize it. Eventually, the child would lose all interest in life and begin to float off into at darkened world full of numbed feelings. However, because it still has the force of life within it, it tries its best to do what it can, despite the all the circumstances that work against it. It loves you deeply, suffers all the abuse, and tries its best to shine forth, never giving up until it is just too weak to fight any longer. This child is your body. It wants you to be healthy and radiant, but it needs you to love it the way in which you would love a small child. Unconditional love is the greatest healer of all, and it is the greatest gift you can give to your body. Take a moment to acknowledge everything that your body has done for you. Allow it to show you how much it loves you.

You may think of your body as merely flesh and bones, but consciousness is in everything, in every cell. All this consciousness, God force, came together as cells to give you the tool, the vehicle that is your body, and it did so out of unconditional love for you. Experience that for a moment.
